School 2.0 and Driving Range May Update
Hello,

Since our last update there have been several extensions of time for the Council decision on the Driving Range / Bar / Function Centre DA with the new date now set down for Friday 25th May. In the last few weeks the Developer has made some changes to accommodate Council's concerns about netting height and lighting. These are available for viewing on the DA Tracker at https://www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/Services/Building-Development/DA-Tracker/11157444

Whilst these changes are a step in the right direction, we've been continuing to think about what's wrong with this proposal on so many levels (as we're sure you have) and have made a new submission, which you can view here https://mcusercontent.com/c9393b36ce0844e0e460778d9/files/ecddee13-9193-82fc-a7e0-e206cfd2d195/SNLGC_Objection.pdf

The fundamental basis of our new submission is that this development, given it's enormous scale and scope, can never be regarded as "outdoor sport and recreation" at its core, as required by the Mango Hill Infrastructure Development Control Plan. The main reasons for this are its size, opening hours, conference centre and extensive commercial kitchen giving it all the hallmarks of a "commercial entertainment venue". Additional concerns are it's positioning within a residential area, traffic, lighting and pedestrian safety. There are comparisons to be made with Topgolf on the Gold Coast, which is certainly not within a residential area.

We hope these points give you additional food for thought and, even if you've already done so, that you are able to make another submission. Hopefully the seven points are really clear and resonate with you, but we do ask you to put it in your own words where possible, rather than 'copy and paste'.

Please keep in mind the decision date is now Friday 25th May. If you have any neighbours or friends who could support our cause that would be great. Again, please email your submissions to council@moretonbay.qld.gov.au; make sure to include "DA/2025/3488" in the subject of your email.

Finally, at the time of writing, the 'School 2.0' proposal has still not made it onto the public register of MID applications. You can view this at  https://www.planning.qld.gov.au/planning-framework/infrastructure-planning/ministerial-infrastructure-designations  . Remember to scroll right to the bottom. This is the space to watch for more developments on this one.

Please let us know your thoughts or suggestions at savenorthlakes@gmail.com.

Thanks once again for your support! We will be back in touch again as we get more information. Please stay strong and remember - either of these proposals could drastically change the lifestyle we all bought into. If this green space is allowed to be developed - it will be gone forever!
