Who We Are
The purpose of Save North Lakes Golf Course Inc (SNLGC) is to OPPOSE and DEFEAT the closure and redevelopment of the North Lakes Golf Course.
About the Cause
Not only is North Lakes Golf Course one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in the Brisbane region, it is the focal point of a thriving community that boasts a population of over 25,000 residents.
The course was beautifully manicured and provides luscious green space in an urban area where there are several smaller green spaces but nothing on the level of the North Lakes Golf Course.
North Lakes is an award-winning, master-planned suburb and community built around the beautiful Lake Eden and the North Lakes Golf Course. Lake Eden is often described as the heart of North Lakes, and North Lakes Golf Course is described as the soul. Both are critically important to the the community and the maintenance of our residents' quality of life.
Both significantly contribute to the unique aesthetic balance envisioned by the master planners in creating our suburb. Both are picturesque fundamental features that ought to be permanently protected for the benefit and enjoyment of the entire community as clearly intended by the master plan — now and into the future.
🐨 A Wildlife Haven
The golf course is home to dozens of native animal species and provides the last opportunity for many birds and animals to live amongst the community in a natural green habitat.
These vulnerable animals rely on the golf course's waterways, trees, shrubs and bushes as their last habitat and last chance to survive in suburbia and live a happy and peaceful life.
A Future for the Course
There are a multitude of viable options available instead of selling off the land to developers — options that would see the golf course maintained for the benefit of the community, now and into the future.
Golf Australia and the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of Australia have endorsed the SNLGC campaign and reiterated the massive potential that exists for our golf course to thrive. With golf participation booming across Queensland and surrounding courses at or near capacity, the demand has never been greater.
