School 2.0 and Driving Range March Update

School 2.0 and Driving Range March Update
Hello again!

In this update, we will fill you in on both active proposals over the golf course, "School 2.0" and the Driving Range / Entertainment Centre. Plus we think a new way to have your say has arrived! Time is really tight now, but please read on and keep thinking about what you can do...

Firstly, the decision date for the Driving Range / Entertainment Centre proposal has been put back again - and is now due no later than this Friday 27th March.

This means there is still time to put in a submission, even if you've already done so. Some food for thought: Why can't they use the existing car park? Why does it have to be soo big (and take out the 10th hole and then some)? Does it need to open at night, till 10pm, thinking of lights and noise - in a residential area, really?? What about the proven koala habitat? Can we encourage Council to look at this a bit more broadly, rather than 'one dimensionally'? Please email your submissions to council@moretonbay.qld.gov.au; make sure to include "DA/2025/3488" in the subject of your email.

In another development, Council has recently released their latest Community Survey called "Moreton Says" which you can access via the link below:

https://www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/News/Media/Have-your-say-and-help-shape-Moreton-Bay

The survey has been out a couple of weeks now and only runs until this Sunday 29th March, but we note that 'liveability' and 'recreation' are two of the areas they want input on. If you have a moment to give some positive input about how saving this space is critical to maintaining or improving those areas, we urge you to have your say. It's mostly a 'tick the box' type survey, but there is scope for free comment in certain parts!

From what we can see, the 'School 2.0' proposal has still not progressed since before Christmas. We have found a website which includes a public register of MID applications:  https://www.planning.qld.gov.au/planning-framework/infrastructure-planning/ministerial-infrastructure-designations  . If you scroll to the bottom, School 2.0 does not appear there - yet. So this is the space to watch for more developments on this one.

We have made some progress on understanding how koalas are 'mapped' by the Department of Environment and Tourism, but more about that next time.

We hope this update has been helpful. If the School 2.0 proposal gets off the ground we will almost certainly mount a strong community-wide campaign, so please encourage your friends and neighbours to join our mailing list at this address: http://eepurl.com/dDlRnD
