School 2.0 and Driving Range February Update

School 2.0 and Driving Range February Update
Hello again!

We are now well into 2026 and still following the two proposals active over the golf course, "School 2.0" and a Driving Range / Entertainment Centre.

From what we can see, the 'School 2.0' proposal has still not progressed since before Christmas. We have had no reply to our request for consolidated feedback from the community information sessions. We have learned a little though about the process for making a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) and this is described in the attached flowchart https://mcusercontent.com/c9393b36ce0844e0e460778d9/files/59f623bf-6859-4ee3-d438-925b9821c300/Noise_20251212.01.pdf . We understand the Developer has gone through Stage 2 (Preliminary Stakeholder Engagement) which was the limited letterbox drop and even more limited community information sessions last November. We note that Stage 5 includes 'Consultation by Entity' and understand this will be far more wide-ranging than Stage 2.

Among numerous concerns raised by the information sessions and in the http://www.northlakescampus.com.au website was the statement in the FAQ section that: "The site is in a Koala Priority Area that extends across North Lakes. The Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning has confirmed there is no mapped Koala Habitat Area on the site." In light of this, we have forwarded detailed information from a local accredited koala rescuer on numerous koala and kangaroo/wallaby sightings on the course. We have informed Three Plus and Council that the area near the proposed driving range/entertainment complex is also being used to 'rehome' and rehabilitate' koalas. We are making enquiries about how the mapped habitat can be updated! Thank you also to those who have sent photos of sightings through - keep them coming. Feedback can on the information we have so far can still be given to Three Plus at ella@threeplus.com.au

There has been a lot of movement on the driving range / entertainment centre proposal, which is still before Council. In short, the decision date has been pushed out, yet again, this time to 13th March 2026. Last month there were further information requests from Council on lighting and stormwater to which the developer has responded, with some changes. This month traffic and noise, which appear to be still outstanding. These are topics of concern for us all, especially those closest to the proposed driving range area. We appreciate council's diligence and persistence in continuing to review this proposal. It certainly underscores the sensitivity of a development of such scale in an established residential and environmentally sensitive location!!

For those wanting to read the detail, all documents and submissions can be accessed via Council's Development Application tracker website here: DA/2025/3488.  The follow-up information requests from Council on traffic and noise (acoustics) and responses (so far) from the Developer on lighting and stormwater are well worth a look.

There have been even more community submissions since our last update - thank you everyone! Most importantly, we can confirm that, although time is getting tight, submissions can still be made and will be taken into account. So if you haven't submitted yet or if you have views on the above areas of clear concern, please email your submissions to council@moretonbay.qld.gov.au; make sure to include "DA/2025/3488" in the subject of your email.

We hope this update has been helpful. If you have friends or neighbours who are able to help, please encourage them to do so.  It's very important we speak loudly and clearly on this!
