November 2021 Update: Alot has happened in the past month!
In this months update we discuss the latest news on the Development Application lodged for a Retirement Village, Also the Private School rejected by the State Government and we invite you to the SNLGC Christmas Party/Fundraiser.
Private School Application, REFUSED by State Government!
In our previous newsletter we detailed how The developer was proposing to build a 1700 student private school on the golf course, with a church and child care facility. There was an amazing response of well over 1000 submissions from residents objecting to the proposal!
The good news is that The State Government made a decision and rejected the school proposal! below is a statement from the State Government:
"In September 2021, the proponent sought endorsement to lodge a MID proposal. The department reviewed the supporting materials provided and a decision has been made to not support the MID proposal.
"The department decided to not support the MID proposal for reasons including that there is no identified funding for the development of the school".
The news that the school has been rejected is a big relief, especially to so many that would of been impacted. Thanks again to everyone that submitted an objection.
Development Application lodged to MBRC for retirement uses on the Golf Course:
The developer in Late October 2021 finally lodged a Development Application to Moreton Bay Regional Council for over 240 plus retirement units and 100 bed aged care nursing home on the golf course land. We have good news that it was deemed by the Council that the development application could not be received in its current form and is not properly made due to a number of significant technical and legislative hurdles! The developer now has 20 days to respond to the Council, we will await the response and update you of any progress. This is a great result as it aligns with our legal advice from day 1 that the developer faces significant legal hurdles to get a Development Application lodged, assessed and approved. We certainly want to see a revitalized golf facility with a great bar, restaurant, cafe and function rooms for everyone to enjoy rather than 100s of private retirement units with a 100 bed nursing home and the balance of the land becoming a maintenance nightmare and burden on the council for years to come.
Best Regards
