After five long years, a lot of anxious moments and a huge community effort it looks like a decision on whether to approve this shocking development application is near. Council Planning Staff have now completed their deliberation and haverecommended the application be refused. The matter is listed on the agenda for decision at the general council meeting next Wednesday 22nd November 2023.
We can really do little more to influence the result now but it would be wonderful to see a huge crowd at the meeting to listen to any debate and watch the vote. The meeting is open to the public and starts at 9.30am. It will be at the Strathpine Council Chambers, 220 Gympie Rd, Strathpine.
If planning to come along please be aware that to enter the public gallery you need to register at the ground floor reception - so best be early!
If you are interested in reading Council Planners' reasoning it starts at page 104 of the Meeting Agenda - yes that's right page 104! Go to Council's website, under Council Meetings or follow the link below:
One other thing - last time we were in touch you will recall we were awaiting the Developer's response to a long list of questions/comments and that the decision time-frame was still uncertain.
We now know the Developer responded to several of the points raised on 25th October and you can read their responses here:
Finally, if you are not able to make it along on the day, Council meetings are 'live streamed' on their website and recordings are also available some time afterwards.
Let's hope next Wednesday is a great victory for North Lakes, for sound long term planning and for protecting the environment, our wildlife and precious green space.
Thank you all once again for all your ongoing support. Please continue to 'Stay Strong' with the community as we await the vote next week. We will be back in touch as soon as we know more.
